Create An Accessibility Statement
Accessibility statements are crucial to letting users know you take accessibility seriously. These statements outline your awareness of ADA compliance guidelines and your commitment to following them. With an accessibility statement in place, you’ll also protect your business from an ADA lawsuit.
During the design process your accessibility statement should include, but is not limited to:
- The accessibility standards you follow (WCAG 2.1)
- Measures taken by your organization to be accessible to all users
- Contact information for users to easily report accessibility problems
Once completed, this statement should be readily available on your site and linked to from several high-traffic areas. The header, footer, and contact page are ideal points of access to your accessibility statement.
